Chief Executive Officer
Lisa Gable has served four U.S. presidents and two governors, counseled Fortune 500 CEOs, and represented global public-private partnerships and nonprofits with an end goal of moving organizations to higher levels of performance.
As the former President of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Lisa created and led a coalition of food and beverage industry corporations and public health and government agencies resulting in the reduction of 6.4 trillion calories from the American diet.
Lisa was appointed the first female U.S. Commissioner General to the 2005 Aichi World EXPO, holding the personal rank of Ambassador, served as a U.S. Delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and served in the Reagan White House and Defense Department. Her corporate experience included serving as senior vice president of Global Public Policy at PepsiCo and 15 years in Silicon Valley. Among her varied volunteer activities, she has served on several boards including as a National Trustee for the Boys and Girls Club of America, a board member for Girl Scouts of the USA and as a member of the Institute of Medicine Roundtable on Obesity Solutions. A published writer, Gable also had recurring media appearances including four years as a regularly scheduled guest with Lifetime’s national morning program The Balancing Act.
She is a graduate of University of Virginia and holds an MA from Georgetown University.
James R. Baker, Jr., MD
Chief Medical Officer
James R. Baker, Jr., MD, is the chief medical officer of FARE. For 20 years, Dr. Baker was the chief of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Michigan, where he helped start the Food Allergy Research Center. He has also served as the Ruth Dow Doan Professor since 2003 and he retains his professorship and serves in an emeritus capacity at the University. Dr. Baker has authored more than 350 peer-reviewed scientific articles and also has more than 30 years of experience in basic biologic research, concentrating in immunology and host defense both at the University of Michigan and in industry at Merck, where he served as a senior vice president and the global head of vaccines. His long-standing research in immunology involves the basis of several autoimmune diseases, and he has become an internationally recognized expert in nanotechnology, nanomolecular materials in biomedical applications and the emerging field of nanomedicine.
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Sandeep previously served as Vice President for Finance and the Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). He previously worked for healthcare industry brands GE Healthcare and Novartis. Sandeep is a graduate of Panjab University who earned both an MBA and completed the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He is also a CPA, CMA and holds a Financial Planning Certificate from Georgetown University, Washington, DC.
Mary Jane Marchisotto
Senior Vice President of Research and International Operations
Before joining FARE, Mary Jane spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry, including at JP Morgan Chase, Citibank and Morgan Stanley, concentrating on financial management issues and on the development of internal best practices. Mary Jane was previously the Executive Director of FAI. She serves as co-chair of the Patient Organization Committee of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, chair of the International Food and Anaphylaxis Alliance, is a member of the Adverse Reactions Committee of The American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and is serving on the Sharing Clinical Trial Data Action Collaborative of the National Academy of Medicine. She is a graduate of Wells College and holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
Vice President of Marketing and Engagement
Jill has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit events, management, and marketing. At FARE, Jill oversees marketing, engagement, brand and licensing efforts. Much of Jill’s career has been mission and ROI-focused, creating and delivering on acquisition and engagement strategies, growing products and programs and strengthening constituent relationships. Prior to being at FARE, Jill worked with the American Diabetes Association leading engagement, ecommerce, advertising and acquisition efforts. Jill has her MBA from the George Washington University Business School and is a proud Virginia Tech Hokie.
Vice President of Education and Community Initiatives
Carlea has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and health advocacy. Prior to joining FARE, Carlea served as Executive Director at the Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education, where she increased the organization's revenue, outreach and patient education programs. From 2006 to 2013, Carlea led the patient advocacy group Fight Colorectal Cancer. Her work also includes efforts to fight diabetes and teen smoking. Her passion for health advocacy is personal: Within a 14-month period, she lost her mother to complications of Type 1 diabetes and her father to myelodysplastic syndrome. Carlea’s career initially started in politics working for the late Florida Governor Lawton Chiles and later at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington, DC.
Senior National Director of Advocacy
Jen oversees all of FARE’s advocacy and government affairs efforts, as well as working with allied industries on issues of concern to the food allergic community. The mother of a food allergic son, Jen has worked professionally in the food allergy world since opening the Chicago office of the Food Allergy Initiative in 2010. She began her career at the Illinois Attorney General’s office, and has worked in senior executive positions in several philanthropic foundations. She received her MA from The University of Chicago, BA from Bryn Mawr College, and has lived in the UK, France and Israel.
Chief of Staff/Senior Director, Federal Advocacy
Jennifer Madsen is the Chief of Staff at FARE, and leads federal advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and with the Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Previously, Jen was a strategic advisor in the Life Sciences and Public Policy practices of Arnold & Porter LLP, an international law firm. She led a team of 10 regulatory professionals in the DC office of the College of American Pathologists; was Vice President for Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the American Clinical Laboratory Association; and lobbied on the Affordable Care Act at the Podesta Group. Early in her career, she served as a health economist for the Congressional Budget Office and advised life sciences companies during implementation of the Medicare prescription drug benefit at the consulting firm Avalere Health. She holds a Master of Public Health from Yale University and a B.A. in Biochemistry from Rice University.
