Lisa Gable

Chief Executive Officer

Lisa Gable has served four U.S. presidents and two governors, counseled Fortune 500 CEOs, and represented global public-private partnerships and nonprofits with an end goal of moving organizations to higher levels of performance.

As the former President of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Lisa created and led a coalition of food and beverage industry corporations and public health and government agencies resulting in the reduction of 6.4 trillion calories from the American diet.

Lisa was appointed the first female U.S. Commissioner General to the 2005 Aichi World EXPO, holding the personal rank of Ambassador, served as a U.S. Delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and served in the Reagan White House and Defense Department. Her corporate experience included serving as senior vice president of Global Public Policy at PepsiCo and 15 years in Silicon Valley. Among her varied volunteer activities, she has served on several boards including as a National Trustee for the Boys and Girls Club of America, a board member for Girl Scouts of the USA and as a member of the Institute of Medicine Roundtable on Obesity Solutions. A published writer, Gable also had recurring media appearances including four years as a regularly scheduled guest with Lifetime’s national morning program The Balancing Act.

She is a graduate of University of Virginia and holds an MA from Georgetown University.

James R. Baker, Jr., MD

Dr Jim Baker

Chief Medical Officer

James R. Baker, Jr., MD, is the chief medical officer of FARE. For 20 years, Dr. Baker was the chief of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Michigan, where he helped start the Food Allergy Research Center. He has also served as the Ruth Dow Doan Professor since 2003 and he retains his professorship and serves in an emeritus capacity at the University. Dr. Baker has authored more than 350 peer-reviewed scientific articles and also has more than 30 years of experience in basic biologic research, concentrating in immunology and host defense both at the University of Michigan and in industry at Merck, where he served as a senior vice president and the global head of vaccines. His long-standing research in immunology involves the basis of several autoimmune diseases, and he has become an internationally recognized expert in nanotechnology, nanomolecular materials in biomedical applications and the emerging field of nanomedicine.

Vanita Boswell, PhD

Vanita is a veteran fundraiser and strategist with over 20 years of fund development and brand marketing experience. She has led conversations with the United Nations Status on Women, Global CSR Summits, and National Marketing Conferences. In 2014, Vanita launched The VALO Group—a social impact consultancy that raises investments by designing purpose driven campaigns and strategies. VALO’s portfolio of impact partners includes FARE, Girls Who Code, UNICEF, NYC Rescue Mission, The Bowery Mission, Young Life, Thankful, and New York University. Vanita received a Service Award from the FBI, honoring VALO’s work in Public Service and Government. She is also the Executive Producer of the social justice film Rooting for Roona. Prior to launching VALO, Vanita served as the Chief Development Executive for Girl Scouts of the USA, where she designed ToGetHerThere, a $1B fundraising campaign for girls – the largest in US history. Vanita holds a MS in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Sociology.

Sherry Lynn Fazio

Interim Chief Development Officer

Sherry Lynn Fazio has been working in nonprofit fundraising, event planning and communications for the past 19 years in New York and New Jersey.  Ms. Fazio currently owns and operates SG Strategy, a boutique consulting firm, where she works with clients on nonprofit infrastructure development, social media marketing, digital strategy, volunteer engagement, and event planning. Prior to consulting, Sherry spent eight years managing external affairs for a small nonprofit that grew by millions under her leadership. She has presented all over the country on using social media for nonprofits, volunteer management, event planning and other topics benefiting nonprofit organizations at local and national conferences. Ms. Fazio has her BA from Muhlenberg College and a Masters in Applied Social & Community Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.   

Nurry Hong

Interim Chief of Research Strategy & Innovation

Nurry has over 18 years of experience advising leading for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare organizations shape and execute their organization’s growth strategies. His previous experience includes over eight years as a Managing Director and Partner of L.E.K. Consulting’s Life Sciences practice where he helped contribute to the firm’s global, U.S. and West Coast operations. Nurry’s expertise is in corporate strategy and development, portfolio optimization and planning, business development and transactions, commercialization, market access and operational scale-up with a focus on biopharma, medical device and integrated health technology companies. While at L.E.K., Nurry worked closely with C-suite executives, board members and investors at leading global healthcare and biopharmaceutical companies, emerging innovative start-ups and industry-shaping venture funds. His not-for-profit experience includes working closely with large medical research foundations including leading organizations in global health, Type 1 Diabetes and neurosciences. He is currently a co-founder and CEO of two start-up life science companies, and serves as a board observer and advisor to various private and not-for-profit organizations. Nurry has a B.A. in Finance from the University of Washington. Nurry is a food allergy dad and passionate advocate for food allergy patients and families.

Jennifer Jobrack

Vice President of Education, Advocacy and Strategic Alliances

Jen oversees all of FARE’s advocacy and government affairs efforts, as well as working with allied industries on issues of concern to the food allergic community. The mother of a food allergic son, Jen has worked professionally in the food allergy world since opening the Chicago office of the Food Allergy Initiative in 2010. She began her career at the Illinois Attorney General’s office, and has worked in senior executive positions in several philanthropic foundations. She received her MA from The University of Chicago, BA from Bryn Mawr College, and has lived in the UK, France and Israel.

Jennifer Madsen

Jen Madsen

Senior Director, Federal Advocacy

Jennifer Madsen leads federal advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and with the Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Previously, Jen was a strategic advisor in the Life Sciences and Public Policy practices of Arnold & Porter LLP, an international law firm. She led a team of 10 regulatory professionals in the DC office of the College of American Pathologists; was Vice President for Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the American Clinical Laboratory Association; and lobbied on the Affordable Care Act at the Podesta Group. Early in her career, she served as a health economist for the Congressional Budget Office and advised life sciences companies during implementation of the Medicare prescription drug benefit at the consulting firm Avalere Health. She holds a Master of Public Health from Yale University and a B.A. in Biochemistry from Rice University.

Mary Jane Marchisotto

Senior Vice President of Research and International Operations

Before joining FARE, Mary Jane spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry, including at JP Morgan Chase, Citibank and Morgan Stanley, concentrating on financial management issues and on the development of internal best practices. Mary Jane was previously the Executive Director of FAI. She serves as co-chair of the Patient Organization Committee of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, chair of the International Food and Anaphylaxis Alliance, is a member of the Adverse Reactions Committee of The American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and is serving on the Sharing Clinical Trial Data Action Collaborative of the National Academy of Medicine. She is a graduate of Wells College and holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
